Turkish Mocha-Date Cake

Ingredients
  • Chocolate cake mix
  • 1 TBSP powdered instant coffee
  • 3 cups dates (cut up)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup walnuts (finely chopped)

  • Mocha Icing:
  • 1 Betty Crocker Creamy White Frosting Mix
  • 2 TBSP powdered instant coffee
  • 3 TBSP butter

Steps
  1. Add powdered instant coffee to cake mix. Bake in layers; cool.
  2. Date filling:
  3. Cook dates slowly with sugar and water, stirring constantly until thickened. Add walnuts.
  4. Mocha Icing: Prepare Betty Crocker Creamy White Frosting Mix as directed - except add powdered instant coffee and 3 TBSP more butter.
