Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 2 TBSP butter
- 1/4 tsp oil of peppermint
- 7 drops food coloring
Steps
- Combine sugar, syrup, and salt. Add water.
- Cook slowly, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves.
- Cook to hard ball stage (260°) without stirring. Remove from heat and stir in remaining ingredients.
- Pour into buttered pan. Cool until comfortable to handle.
- Butter hands and gather taffy into a ball.
- Pull candy until light in color and hard to pull. Cut into fourths and pull each strand about 1/2" thick.
- Snip with buttered scissors into bite size pieces.
- Wrap each piece in wax paper.
