Orange Cake

"Bride's Cake"

Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 1/2 cups cake flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups sifted sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp orange flavoring
  • 6 egg whites

Steps
  1. Cream butter. Add suga; cream until smooth.
  2. Stir flour. Measure and sift with baking powder and salt. Add alternately with milk to 1st mixture.
  3. Add flavorings. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
  4. Pour into well oiled cake pans.
  5. Bake 375° about 35 minutes. Cool.
  6. Cover with white butter icing.
  7. Decorate as desired.
