Molasses Taffy

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cup light molasses
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp vinegar
  • 1 1/2 TBSP butter
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • cornstarch

Steps
  1. In heavy saucepan, combine all ingredients except cornstarch.
  2. Stir over medium heat until mixture boils. Continue boiling until hardball stage (244°). Remove from heat.
  3. Pour onto greased sheet. When cool enough to handle, divide into pieces.
  4. Pull between greased fingertips until light colored and stiff.
  5. Cut into pieces. Roll in cornstarch so it won't be sticky.
  6. Always use caution when cooking and working with candy.
  7. Eat right away!
