Kettle Corn

Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup M&M candies

Steps
  1. In a large lidded pot, tast almonds over medium for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring frequently. Transfer to a plate and carefully wipe out pot.
  2. Heat oil in pot over medium. Add popcorn kernels and cover.
  3. Cook until a few kernels begin to pop, about 3 minutes, shaking pot, then quickly add sugar.
  4. Continue to cook, shaking pot constantly until popping slows down to once every 2 seconds (about another 3 minutes).
  5. Pour popcorn into a large bowl and add almonds and salt. Toss to combine. Cool a few minutes and toss with M&Ms.
