Ingredients
- 2 TBSP horehound
- 1 cup water
- 2 cup sugar
- 1 cup dark karo syrup
- 1 TBSP butter
Steps
- Combine horehound and water. Simmer 5 minutes.
- Strain through cloth and squeeze. Combine remaining ingredients in 6 quart kettle.
- Add strained mixture. Cook stirring constantly over high heat.
- To test for doneness, drop a little into a cup of cold water. When it cracks and breaks, it's ready.
- Pour into an oiled pan and mark in one inch squares.
- Cool completely. Break apart.
