Favorite French Bread

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 TBSP sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 TBSP oil
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 4 cups flour (abt.)

Steps
  1. Mix water, sugar, salt, and oil together in a large tupperware bowl.
  2. Sprinkle yeast over the top and stir with a wooden spoon until dissolved.
  3. Add 4 cups flour (about) and stir until smooth and bread dough texture.
  4. Cover with plastic lid and let sit 10 minutes.
  5. Dip spoon in flour and stir. Repeat 5 more times (1 hour total).
  6. Roll dough out 1/2 inch thick, roll up into long load and place on greased cookie sheet.
  7. Slit top crosswise with a sharp knife 2 or 3 times. Brush top with slightly beaten egg white and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  8. Let raise for 30 minutes. Bake at 375° for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. You can also use this recipe for hard rolls.
