Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup nuts - chopped
- 2 eggs - beaten
- 1 TBSP shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 pkg. (15) dates - pitted and chopped
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup boiling water
Steps
- Prepare flour with salt. Add nuts. (mixture 1)
- Cream shortening then add sugar and beaten eggs - blend. (mixture 2)
- Put water in pan and add dates. Stir around in water. Add soda last. Mix well. (mixture 3)
- Pour mixture 1 into mixture 2. Pour mixture 3 in to mixture 2. Stir using 15-20 strokes.
- Grease pans. Fill pans half full.
- Bake 350° until lightly brown. Cool on rack.
