Ingredients
- 1 bag puffed rice (6-16 oz. bag, depending upon how carmelized you want it)
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 2 sticks margarine/butter
- 1 3/4 cups karo syrup
- 1 can Eagle brand sweet condensed milk
Steps
- Bring brown sugar, margarine/butter, and karo syrup to a boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Add condensed milk. Boil 3 additional minutes.
- Pour over puffed rice - mix well.
- Spray pam into mold (1st time only). Fill molds with mixture.
- Remove immediately from mold. Place on wax paper.
- Seal in plastic wrap.
- Can spread out flat on sprayed cookie sheet, cut into squares.
- Variations:
- - popcorn for puffed rice (1 1/2 to 1 1/2 cup uncooked popcorn)
- - can substitute rice crispies
- - can mix popcorn and rice together
- - can add 2 squares unsweetened chocolate before condensed milk
- - can use chocolate chips, red hots, or food coloring for decoration
