Cream Caramels

Ingredients
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup (small can) undiluted milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Steps
  1. Combine all ingredients except vanilla in saucepan over low heat.
  2. Cook until syrup forms form ball in cold water (245° on candy thermometer). Stir constantly, add vanilla.
  3. Pour into buttered 9" square pan. Cool thoroughly before turning out on buttered board.
  4. Cut into squares and wrap each individual square in waxed paper.
  5. Makes 1 pound.
