Church Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 2 TBSP vinegar
  • 5 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp soda

Steps
  1. Sift dry ingredients together.
  2. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla.
  3. Add sifted ingredients and sour cream (or whipping cream + vinegar), alternately with creamed ingredients.
  4. Roll dough out on floured board to 1/4" thick.
  5. Cut into desured shapes with cookie cutter.
  6. Bake on greased sheet at 350° for 6 to 10 minutes.
  7. Do NOT overcook.
Tips
Can brush tops of cookies with sugar before baking, or frost afterwards.
