Ingredients
- Baked Layer:
- 2 eggs (beaten)
- 1/2 cup shortening (melted)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp peppermint flavoring
- 2 squares unsweetened chocolate (melted)
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup walnuts (shredded)
- Frosting Layer:
- 2 TBSP shortening (softened)
- 1 TBSP cream
- 1 TBSP peppermint flavoring
- 1 cup powdered sugar (sifted)
- 1 square chocolate
- 1 TBSP shortening
Steps
- Mix eggs, shortening, and sugar together. Add pepperming flavoring and melted chocolate.
- Stir until blended. Add flour and walnuts and mix well.
- Pour batter into a 9" pan. Bake 350° for 25 minutes.
- Cool the baked layer about 30 minutes.
- For frosting layer, thoroughly blend softened shortening and cream. Add peppermind flavoring and powdered sugar.
- Blend well. Spread frosting over cooled baked layer.
- Place in refridgerator for 5 minutes. When frosting is firm, melt together chocolate and shortening until well blended.
- Spread chocolate mixture over frosting. Pleace in refridgerator for 5 more minutes.
- Cut into 3/4" x 2 1/4" strips.
- Yields 45 pieces
