Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 2 1/2 cups sugar
- 5 TBSP butter
- 8 drops peppermint oil
- 3 drops food coloring
Steps
- Place water and sugar in pan. Heat until sugar is dissolved, stirring. Do not allow to boil.
- Add butter in pieces - allowing to melt on sides of pan to prevent sugar crystals. Cook to 248°.
- Pour onto chilled buttered surface. (Cools faster if poured in a "S" pattern)
- Cool until it can be handled. Add coloring and flavor before pulling.
- Pull until pull and ropes do not hold together. Cut into pieces.
- Place in tin to ripen for 24 hours.
