  • 1 lb filo dough (thawed)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 TBSP cinnamon
  • 28 oz walnuts
  • whole cloves

1x
Steps
  1. Chop walnuts in food processor. Combine sugar, walnuts and cinnamon in a bowl.
  2. Butter pan - usually a 9x13. Layer 7-8 sheets of Filo, buttering every layer. Have first 2-3 layers hang over the edges of the pan.
  3. Sprinkle nuts on 8th layer and spread evenly.
  4. Drizzle butter on nuts.
  5. Add two more layers of filo and butter and then another layer of nuts. Repeat until nuts are gone.
  6. Do 5-6 more layers of buttered filo and then fold in the bottom pieces that were hanging over the pan. Add at least 2 more layers of filo after this so there are at least 8 layers above the nuts.
  7. Put in the freexer until hard (aim for one hour).
  8. Cut into squares and then triangles.
  9. Add whole cloves to each triangle.
  10. Bake for 1 hour at 350°
  11. While baking, make syrup and cook on high for 20-25 minutes. Then, remove half of orange. Cool syrup.
  12. Take baklava out of oven and while hot pour on cold syrup.
  13. Let sit for around 30 minutes.
  14. Place in muffin cups to serve.
